TREATMENT
‘Hidden Emotions’
THE
BRIEF
For this unit I will be creating five final pieces which
will be based on 'Identity'. This is to created for a promotional poster for an
exhibition, this will be done by taking and editing a range of photographs that
will then be broken down to the best five final pieces that would be
suitable.
CONCEPT
IDEA
The shot
types I will use for this idea is a head and shoulder shot or a close up shot
of a persons face. I will use eye level for this idea as it shows subject of
the photograph as we would expect to see them in real life which make the
photograph look more realistic. The composition of this idea would be to have
the main subject of the photograph in the centre with no background that would draw
the attention away from the main subject. The shutter speed that I will use to
take a Portrait is 1/60 this means the shutter speed will be average to get a
clear photograph. I will also use low aperture, this makes the photograph in
focus.
TARGET
AUDIENCE
The age of my target audience would
be aimed towards teenagers and older, this is because children are too younger
to understand the meaning of the photograph which means it will not have an
impact on them. The target gender will be aimed towards females this is because
females are known to be more sensitive which means that this will have a bigger
impact towards females, however this photograph will also be aimed at
males because males also go through the
same things as females. My final pieces won’t be aimed a specific ethnicity. The
ABC1 is AGE, GENDER, DEMOGRAPHICS (ETHNICITY, ABC1, SUBCULTURE) THAT YOUR
PHOTOGRAPHS WOULD APPEAL TOO

PROPS
AND MODELS
The Model(s)
I will use are friends from in and out of college. My Models are females, this
is because it is known for females to be more emotional than males, however I
could challenge this expectations by also experimenting on using Males.
Lillie Parkes
Hermione Archer
Chloe Carlisle
Molly Mccurdy
Abigail Harris
Joel Bingham
Johnny Sanders
Finley Mercer
The Prop I
will need will be just a blank background so it makes it easier for when I edit
these photographs in Photoshop.
HEALTH
AND SAFETY CONSIDERATIONS
To
gain permissions from the models I will ask them to fill in the release
and consent forms. This is so the models know what the photos will be
used for and it will also allow me to publish the photos to the public. I
will also have recce forms. These forms will need to be filled out to
be aware of the the health and safety issues or the utilities which are
or are not available. The risk assessments will also need to be filled
in, this is also to be aware of the health and safety issues which will
allow me to be prepared for if something happens. I will also need to check permissions for the locations I will be using such as UTC because UTC isnt a public place.
LEGAL
AND ETHICAL CONSIDERATIONS
COPYRIGHT
Copyright is a legal right which is
created by the law of a country. Copyright that grants the creator of an
original work exclusive rights to its use and distribution, usually for a
limited time, with the intention of enabling the creator (e.g. the photographer
of a photograph or the author of a book) to receive compensation for their
intellectual effort. The exclusive rights are, however, not absolute and do not
give the creator total control of their works because they are limited by
limitations and exceptions to copyright law. Copyright is important for my
photography as I do not was to breach any copyright laws.
MODEL RELEASE
Model release means that I will need to gain permission from the models that I will be using in my images. I can gain permissions through email, phone call or a letter which will be a realease and consent form (this is what I will be using.) This will need to be done as it is against thte law to take photographs of people without their permissions, this means I would not be able to take the photos and edit them or even use them for my final pieces if I don't have the permissions. I will need permission to use locations as well as models this again can be done through email, letter or phone call (which I will be using.
PUBLIC SPACE
As this is a public area I will not need permission to go on this property to take photographs. However when taking photographs in a public area I will need to be careful not to take photographs of people who I have not got permission from as the is against the law and the photographs will need to be deleted if this happens.
MISREPRESENTATION
This is someone or something that has been shown in a way that isnt true. This is usually a problem when they have been represented in a negative way. These include misrepresentaionof strong stereotypes on different races/age/gender/class/religion this could be a form of discrimination. By gaining permission from my models it means it will make them aware of the intentions of the photograph.
CONTINGENCIES
My
contingency plan would be to have different people from different ethnicities,
these photographs will be taken by a standard kit lens or a portraiture lens this is because the main focus on the photograph with be the model. I will take around 10 photographs. With these photographs I will merge them together to create one person made up of all different ethnicities. The relates to identity as people ethnicities are part of their identity
